Broad-leaved Arrowhead (Sagittaria latifolia)

Identification: Aquatic. Flowers with three, large white petals. Flowers arranged in groups of three. Stamens 25 to 40 per flower. Fruits stalked. Leaves arrowhead shaped, but extremely variable in width.

Distribution: Throughout North America.

Habitat: Broad-leaved Arrowhead is the commonest and most widespread species of the genus and is found in a variety of aquatic habitats including ponds, swamps, lakes, and the shores of rivers.

Flowering period: July to October.
